Cold weather messes up with my gear

In extremely cold season (around -18 fahrenheit), my 2015 Versa with a 5speed manual wont shift into reverse. So im thinking its like a cold related issue., Anyone else experience this?

Have you tried changing the transmission fluid to a thinner synthetic one rated for extreme cold, it might help with the reverse gear issue?

I never knew theres a particular transmission fluid for weathers, does that mean I have to change it from time to time? Is there something for all weathers?
